More Than Conquerors

By Cecil Willis

Every Christian's life is one of cycles, We ere strong at times, and weak at other times. The nation of Israel was alternately strong and weak, depending on her relationship with God. In the book of Judges we read of Israel's apostasies. God would then permit her to be subjugated by her enemies. A prophet would arise, Israel would repent and God would deliver her from the hands of her captors. We learn from this that when we depart from the Lord's ways we are most vulnerable, but when we stand on His word we are invincible.

When we feel that there are too many or too much against us, we should with Paul say, "If God is for us, who is against us?" The Lord and one person constitute a majority. One man standing on what is right can win the victory. God's power has never depended on numbers. "There is no restraint to Jehovah to save by many or by few" (1Sam. 14:6). God always has His seven thousand who have not and who will not bend their knee to Baal. When friends desert us and foes beset us, the Lord continues to succor and strengthen us.

Paul asked, "Who shall separate us from love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or anguish, persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? Nay, in all these things WE ARE MORE THAN CONQUORERS THROUGH HIM THAT LOVED US (Rom. 8: 35

37). When we feel discouraged, when we are spiritually down-in-the-dumps, let us review our condition. Where are we standing? On God's ground? If so, "Stand therefore"!

The apostle Paul's great spirit could not be broken, no matter what the odds. "I can do all things in him that strengtheneth me," he said (Phil. 4:13). The Lord was his strength. So will He also uphold us. Take courage my brethren. Through Him we are MORE THAN CONQUORERS!
