THE DIGRESSIVES ARE IN TROUBLE

R. L. Burns

"Recently, in conversation with A. G. Hobbs, I was told that the division between conservative and liberal brethren over institutions is small compared to the division the liberal brethren are having over the "Holy Spirit-Speaking in Tongues" movement among them.

They have so long frowned on controversy and rejected strong doctrinal preaching in favor of "campaigns," social fellowship and compromise that they are totally unequipped to meet and defeat this newly-spawned error among them. I understand that another leading figure at ACC has endorsed the work of the Holy Spirit separate and apart from the Bible. (He is J. D. Thomas.)

They may now be destroyed by their inventions. Such is usually true. However, I cannot see why they would be unwilling to go outside the Bible for this. They have gone there for nearly everything else they have practiced the last few years. I suspect many of the leaders will "count noses" before they take their stand on either side. We shall watch with interest to see who gets "steam-rolled" this time. Maybe some will repent and come "back home."
