"God, I Love You"

The above words were earnestly spoken in prayer by a four year old, my son. It was very moving to hear one so y6ting express what we feel, but, like so many others, do not verbally express to God, except, perhaps, in song.

Love for God is best expressed by obedience to His will (John 14:15, 21, 2324). This is good and sorely needed.

Verbal expressions of love are also good, and show a fervor that is often missing in the love of many. When asked concerning the greatest commandment Jesus answered, "Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind" (Matt. 22:37). With such love in our hearts, it should (yea, would) flow forth. " for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh" (Matt. 12:34).

Expression of a genuine love for God is not condemned in I John 3:18. What is condemned in a hypocritical love-4oving in word only.

May our love for God be such that we express it by obedience, and by speaking forth "the abundance of the heart." God, I love you! -2140 N.E. 2nd Drive
