The Greatest Undertaking

Garreth Clair

There is no greater undertaking in life than to undertake the responsibilities of being a Christian. Perhaps some folks think that to be a general in one of the armed services is the greatest undertaking for men. Perhaps there are those who consider being President of the United States the greatest responsibility that men today might attain. These are all great and noble aspirations, but to be a faithful Christian is the greatest of all undertakings. In consideration of this fact we present the following points for your examination:

1. Because of the Association:

(a) We have fellowship with the Son of God as a Christian (I John 1: 3).

(b) We have fellowship with all other Christians anywhere in the world

(Acts 2:42; Gal. 2:9; 1 John 1:3, 7).

2. Because of the Joy of Bringing Others to Christ. (Through Teaching):

(a) We know that all who will not repent will be lost, both in this world and that which is to come (Luke 13:3; Acts 17:30).

(b) We know that there is great joy over just one sinner who will repent (Luke 17:7, 10).

3. Because of Bringing the Erring Back (Through Teaching):

(a) Necessity is laid upon the faithful to restore those who have fallen by the wayside (Gal. 6:1).

4. Because There is no Salvation Apart From Being in Christ (A Christian):

(a) Acts 4:12:- "Neither is there salvation in any other: For there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved."

5. Because Christians Must Be Faithful Always, Even unto Death:

(a) Rev. 2:10 - Demands faithfulness.

(b) 2 Timothy 4:8-Paul says that there is a crown of life awaiting all the faithful.

6. Because of the Terror Awaiting the Sinners:

(a) Eternal condemnation in torment (I Cor. 5:5; 1 Thess. 5:3; 1 Thess. 1: 9; 1 Tim. 6:9).

These are but a few of the facets connected with being a Christian. Now, do you think anything is more important? I am thoroughly convinced that being a Christian is the greatest goal in life that anyone could possibly attain. Don't you think so?
