Walt Disney and Evolution

It's Tough To Be A Bird is an animated cartoon featurette by Walt Disney Productions. The cartoon exemplifies the evidence of how birds fly; and an attempt is made to explain the origin of the fowl. Various statements indicate how man for many years has tried to discover the secret of the Winged creature -- how to fly.

The quaint animated, bird who had been telling the informative story, finally "sprung it on us." Cleverly disguised as a theory our friend says, "Would you believe... 3,000,000 years ago.., we (the birds) evolved from fish...?" The character continued to explain and show how fish eventually came out of the water, developed wings, and merrily flew on their way into the wiles of the world.

The point of all of this is a question: Are parents as interested in their children's spiritual education as they are in their entertainment? This cartoon character said, "Would you believe 3,000,000 years ago we evolved from fish?" When was' the last time you, as a parent said, "Children, 'would you believe' 'In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.' "?

Moses recorded in Gen. 1: 26 that not only did God create man and the heavens, and the earth; but also the "fish of the sea, and the fowl of the air." True man has dominion over these animals, but this too is by the ordination of God. In Gen. 2: 7 God breathed into man's nostrils the breath of life, and man became a living being, with a soul!

Paul said, "For in Him were all things created, in the heavens and upon the earth" (Col. 1:16-17) Now, men can argue, they can debate, they can wonder if they want. They can scratch their heads and say, "How did it all begin?" My conviction however is noted in Brother A. W. Dicus' song, Our God He Is Alive:

'Secure is life from mortal mind,

God holds the germ within His hand.

Though men may search they can not find,

For God alone does understand."

Yes, in spite of what Walt Disney's staff says" as for me and my house we'll serve the Creator of all living things." (Josh. 24: 15)

Parents, have you told your children about the creation? Will you leave the responsibility up to Walt Disney Productions to teach evolution? Are you as interested in telling them the truth as you are in seeing they are entertained?

When theories begin to interfere with God's inspired word in people's minds, it's time to take sword in hand {Eph. 6: 10-16), and fight the sickness of theories such as Evolution!
