"Spiritual Security"

TEXT: Read Heb. 10:19-22 and 2 Pet. 1:5-11. INTRO: Everyone desires to be secure, free from fear, care, doubt, or anxiety; not to be troubled nor worried, but have a feeling of security. 1. For example, Lot chose "Physical Security" in the plain of Jordan. (Gen. 13:10, 11.) 2. Today, many select "Social Security" to have a feeling of security. 3. But "Spiritual Security" is the most important. DISC: Hence, let's study "HOW" to obtain "Spiritual Security." I. SPIRITUAL SECURITY HAS TO BE BUILT ON THE "RIGHT FOUNDATION" 1. One must have a "good and honest heart."-Luke 8:5-15. 2. One must make the "right choice." For example: (1) Consider Moses' choice-Heb. 11:24-26. (2) Behold Balaam's choice-Num. 22; 11 Pet. 2:15. 3. One must walk in the "right way."-Psa. 1:1-6; Jno. 14:6. (1) We must walk by "faith."-2 Cor. 5:7; Rom. 10:17. (2) It is not by "faith only"-Jam. 2:24; Gal. 5:6. (3)Christ's way of salvation is: a. One must "Hear" the gospel-Jno. 6:44,45; Rom. 10:14. b. One must "Believe" the gospel-Rom. 1:15; Mk. 16: 15, 16. c. One must "Repent" or perish-Luke 13:3; Acts 17:30. d. One must "Confess" Christ-Matt. 10:32; Rom. 10:9, 10. e. One must be "Baptized"-Mt. 28:19; Mk. 16:16; Gal. 3:27. 4. Then one must be in the "right place." For example: (1)The children of Israel were promised protection if they were in a certain place-Exodus 12:21-23. (2) Rahab was promised protection if in her house-Joshua 2:18, 19. (3) Noah was safe and secure in the ark-Gen. 7:7; 1 Pet. 3:20; Heb. 11:7. II. SPIRITUAL SECURITY IS FOUND ONLY IN CHRIST'S CHURCH. 1. The Lord gave himself for the church.-Eph. 5:25; Acts 20:28. 2. The Lord adds the saved to the church.-Acts 2:47. 3. The Lord is the saviour of the body-the church.-Eph. 5:23. 4. In the church-the Lord's vineyard, we must bear fruit.-Jno. 15:8. CONC: Beloved, are you "Spiritually Secure"? 1. Are you building on the "Right Foundation?"-Matt. 7:24-27. 2. Are you in the church of God's choice-the Lord's house?-Ps. 127:1.
