My Apology To Colly Caldwell

Donnie V. Rader

The following is an e-mail note that I sent to Colly Caldwell on June 18, 2001.

Dear Colly,

It has come to my attention that in the June 7 issue of Truth Magazine I misapplied a quote from your article.

In my article (A Response To Brother Caldwell, page 336) I quote your statement, "Such would have been inappropriate in this setting and would not have been allowed" and applied it to the reason you would not let me respond to brother Owen. Actually, you were referring to the reason you would not have allowed brother Owen to respond to the scriptural arguments I made.

Halbrook’s Answers to Smith’s Question in 1993

Ron Halbrook

[The following article is taken verbatim from my letter dated February 27, 1993 in answer to a letter from brother J.T. Smith dated February 17, 1993. His letter asked if I would affirm the proposition stated below. He wrote because he had heard I would "answer in the affirmative" if the question was raised when I preached on marriage, though he did not identify the source of the report. That part of the letter is omitted below, along with a brief closing paragraph.]

Ron Halbrook

I want to thank brother J.T. Smith for the opportunity to make this statement regarding his March 2001 editorial in Gospel Truths as I am preparing to leave for six weeks in the Philippines. He is concerned about our critics charging us with hypocrisy in opposing their unity-in-doctrinal-diversity while we differ among ourselves in some ways. This charge is directed at brother Donnie Rader, myself, and other faithful men such as brother Smith. "Neither can they prove the things whereof they now accuse" us (Acts 24:13).

Dealing With Marriage And Divorce by Earl Kimbrough

Harry Osborne

The following article was written by brother Earl Kimbrough and originally appeared in the bulletin of the East Bay Church of Christ in Sun City Center, Florida. Its presence on this web site should not be seen as an endorsement of the teaching. Neither should it be implied that brother Kimbrough’s stated thoughts on dealing with those in unlawful marriages is encouraged by this author. In fact, this author finds that the view which "makes sense" to brother Kimbrough is a view which conflicts with New Testament principles.
